I had been looking at subscribing to the Wildest Dreams Book Box for some time now, however, never got around to it – until they announced their recent box theme would be ‘Comic Legends’. Count me right in! I am a super huge fan of comic legends, whether they be from Marvel or DC – this time it being DC – and really couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to receive a box completely made around a super-hero I love.
The box was filled up with so many secret goodies that consisted of; candles, tea, disposable tea bags, a surprise book and other little book themed surprises based around the book you had received. I thought I’d also break down everything I received in to a little more detail, so you can really get a feel of what you’re getting out of subscribing to ‘Wildest Dreams’ – but remember, the fun part of this is that everything you receive is a complete surprise and you never know what to expect!
The first box I opened inside contained four candles, all labelled with names that fit around the theme of the DC super-heroes. When receiving this book, inside you also get a slip of paper that explains what you get in your box and for this particular product, they had explained in detail what each name labelled on the candles meant – which I will tell you about now.
♡ WARBRINGER – A Wonder-Woman inspired candle, scented with desert breeze.
♡ NIGHTWALKER – A Batman inspired candle, scented with jasmine.
♡ SOULSTEALER – A Cat-Woman inspired candle, scented with cherry chocolate.
♡ DAWNBREAKER – A Superman inspired candle, scented with sandalwood.
I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest candle person, but I do know how to appreciate the ones that smell divine. For me, WARBRINGER, NIGHTWALKER and DAWNBREAKER were too strong of scents for me, although this may differ when they’re actually lit. My mum has already took ownership of those three and I’m sure once we’ve got a cosy lit house and the scents are floating around, I’ll appreciate them much more. I took an instant liking to SOULSTEALER and if you read Zoe’s description of them above – I have a slight feeling the ‘cherry chocolate’ scent has a whole lot to do with that!
The next item I picked out of the box was the ‘”Gotham City” Blackcurrant Sundae Tea with Sugar Bats’ – Zoe (the owner of Wildest Dreams) describes it as “a wonderful fruity flavor of blackcurrants that balance perfectly with the light Sri Lankan black tea and subtle creamy notes of vanilla.”
Finally, we come to the ‘surprise book’ and Zoe did not disappoint! The book choice for July’s box was ‘Catwoman: Soulstealer’ by Sarah J Mass.
“Two years after escaping Gotham City’s slums, Selina Kyle returns as the mysterious and wealthy Holly Vanderhees. She quickly discovers that Gotham City is ripe for the taking. Selina has teamed up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and together they are wreaking havoc. This Catwoman may be Batwing’s undoing.”
Marvel may have my heart for the most part, however, when it comes to Gotham City and the bad-ass ladies that are taking over, I am all for the DC world! Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are already such admirable women for me, that I now can’t wait to get invested in Cat-Woman and learn more about what she has to offer. A full review will be up for this book as soon as I have read it – so keep an eye out for that! Along with the book of the month, I also received a ‘Catwoman: Soulstealer’ bookmark, which has the quote “When the bat’s away, the cat will play”. Love it!
I am super happy with my book box and definitely believe it is worth every single penny that you spend. Every product that you receive is most likely going to be used at some point and nothing will ever be pushed to the side. Each monthly theme may not be of any interest to you, in which you can just cancel your subscription and re-subscribe when one catches your eye – however, if the theme ‘Survival’ sparks your interest and you’re a fan of the Caraval series, the Throne of Glass series and The Hunger Games… August’s book box may be the one that you splash out on! Book boxes are renewed on the 25th of every month, so why hold it off any longer? Get August’s book box now by signing up here.
