I have always had a special place in my heart for all things Scooby-Doo, which comes down to growing up with a gorgeous teddy-bear-like Rottweiler, called Scooby. He was my absolute world and the best dog anybody could ever ask for. When our Scooby-Doo passed away around seven years ago, I immediately latched on to the franchise even more – allowing me to keep Scooby with me forever.

I grew up especially watching the What’s New, Scooby-Doo? animated television series – it was my absolute favourite! And then we was extremely blessed with the phenomenal live-action movies starring Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini, Freddie Prinze JR. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Alongside other side movies such as; 2009 & 2010 Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins movies (set when the gang were all teens) and a standalone for Daphne and Velma, released in 2018 – this franchise is so wonderful, filled with incredible actors and has the complete power to turn any frown upside down! I will always be eternally grateful for Scooby-Doo and the gang.

Backstory now to the side – you can probably already imagine how my reaction went, when I heard about the new computer-animated movie they had announced in 2019. Put it this way, I hadn’t been able to contain my excitement since! Now, finally had the opportunity to watch it, I hope you’re ready for a lot of gushing because this is a movie – whether you’re a fully grown adult or a child – that you’re not going to want to miss out on!

Scoob! begins with a never-before-told story of how Shaggy and Scooby’s most iconic friendship began and it was the cutest little origin story – I absolutely adored the way Shaggy discovered the way to naming his new, little homeless friend. It was the perfect introductory scene to the best friend’s we have all grown up to love.

I’m unsure as to whether or not the Mystery Inc gang have an official origin story, however, the one created in Scoob! was again, the absolute cutest, during Halloween night – where the five discover that they are actually pretty good at working together as a team and want to continue working together in ridding of the bad guys! P.S. I really need the gang in their Halloween costumes as Pop Funko figures!!

Skip ahead a few years, after many successful cases solved, the Mystery Inc. gang come face to face with their most biggest and most challenging mystery yet, including one of Hanna-Barbera’s most iconic antagonists, Dick Dastardly (Whacky Races). With the help of Shaggy’s childhood idol, Blue Falcon, his sidekick Dynomutt and Dee Dee Skyes, we discover that Scooby has a secret legacy and a destiny that nobody could have ever imagined, which comes with many obstacles and consequences.

This was the most perfect family watch filled with entertainment for both children and adults. The nostalgia reached back all the way to appearances from other Hanna-Barbera characters, having even your parents relive their childhoods. During the beginning of the movie, they used the Scooby-Doo Where Are You? theme song and recreated it exactly like it was shown in the 1969 series. The comedy was an absolute 10/10 – from Shaggy and Scooby singing Shallow, Fred being called a “poor man’s Hemsworth” and so much more that I don’t want to spoil for you all!

I can’t tell you all just how much I adored this movie – it really has become a new favourite. I love that they kept the true meaning of Scooby-Doo within this movie, in which it is all about the meaning of true friendship and no matter what obstacles may come between you’s, you will always find your way back to one another if it’s meant to be, just like Shaggy and Scooby. These two are the absolute definition of a dog being a man’s best friend and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
