I saw these ‘love lists’ a couple of years ago when Victoria (InTheFrow) did them on her YouTube channel and have always just had a love for them since. Since I don’t have a YouTube channel and can’t do these in video form, I thought it’d be fun to do monthly breakdowns on my blog instead and hopefully you enjoy them too!
So without further ado, here is a list of my favourite things from movies to makeup in the month of February:
Favourite TV Show
‘Legacies’ is the spin-off to ‘The Originals’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’, following Klaus’ daughter, Hope Mikaelson at the Salvatore Boarding School, as she faces creatures that aren’t supposed to exist – with the help of Alaric and his two daughters Lizzie and Josie. We are also introduced to more coming-of-age witches, vampires and werewolves who are all learning to become their best selves and avoid the villainous instincts inside of them.
I must admit, I was very wary of watching ANOTHER spin-off to TVD series, especially with it being a whole new group of characters (minus Alaric), as I had grown so fond of all the others whom I had watched for over a decade (wow that sounds crazy to say). If you’re a TV addict like me, it’s difficult to let characters go and that’s why I held off watching this for so long. However, it has been such a phenomenal and fun watch. All the new characters are a delight to watch and now and again, there’s little homages for our beloved OG’s e.g. Klaus, Elena, Damon, Stefan, Caroline, etc.
Another thing that makes this TV series so special is that now and again, we do actually get little guest appearances from the OG’s. My favourite little angel, Matt, has popped up quite a bit with his Sheriff duties and even more excitingly, we got to see Jeremy! I’ll leave the guest appearances there – if you are planning on watching – because one guest appearance was just heartbreaking and completely unexpected. I definitely suggest continuing the legacy of TVD though, if you also was wary, because it really does not let you down!
Happy Death Day & Happy Death Day 2U
Happy Death Day is about a college student called Tree who keeps reliving her birthday over and over again, due to a masked killer who seriously has it in for her. Now, she needs to figure out who murdered her so she can stop the loop from happening and get to know the guy who’s bed she consistently woke up in.
Happy Death Day 2U follows Tree and the characters from the first movie, again finding themselves stuck in the loop of Tree’s birthday. However, this time she gets stuck in a parallel universe where everything is back to front, some for the better, some for the worse. We get a more insight look in to what is causing this day to repeat itself and Tree needs to decide whether she wants to stay in this universe, or go back to her own – whilst also figuring out who her new murderer is.
I am not much for scary or jumpy movies, but Happy Death Day 1 & 2 are definitely the exception! When I was invited to go and see Happy Death 2U, I had not seen the first one and had no idea what to expect. The trailer made it look really scary, but I also knew it was supposed to be a comedy, so that made me relax slightly. From start to finish I absolutely loved the movie, it was so fun, but at the same time incredibly stressful because every-time she gets closer to finding her way back home, something get’s in the way! I went home and watched the first Happy Death Day the next day and again, loved every second of it. The actress who plays Tree is phenomenal and just a joy to watch to the point that I have now invested myself in watching every movie she’s been in that I may enjoy. I also really liked the love story blossoming in the first one and how it continued in the second – Israel Broussard is a cutieeee!
Post Malone – Wow.
I can’t believe I can actually say I love a Post Malone song, because prior to now, I just wasn’t feeling him. When everyone was obsessed with him, I just sat there like “I don’t get it?”
Then, I heard Wow. on the radio whilst at work and I was really getting in to it. At this point, I didn’t know it was even Post singing, but I enjoyed doing a little sit down jig to it every-time it played. Not long after that, I went on a night out and it came on in my favourite bar, so there I was dancing my ass off, singing it word for word, feeling the music, and then a light bulb switch came on! I could Shazam it and see who it’s by! So there’s me, with my arm in air, shazaming this song and when I saw who was singing, it was a “well damnnnn” kind of moment.
I just love the song – the vibe, the beat, the words, the vocals, how lit people get when it comes on… It was not a song I’d choose to listen to at first, but now it is on repeat whenever I’m listening to my music. So, if you love dancey and upbeat songs, this one is for you!
Ariana Grande – Thank U, Next
If this isn’t everyone’s favourite album of February 2019, then I’ll be seriously surprised. ‘Thank U, Next’ was the most anticipated album of 2019 for sure and best of all, it didn’t disappoint!
I must admit, the first time I listened to it there was some songs that I weren’t feeling, mostly because it’s a different vibe from Ariana than usual. That being said, after ridiculous amounts of re-listening, there’s not one bad song on the album – I don’t know why I ever disliked some of them – clearly my ears were having an off day! I feel really proud of Ariana with this album, as she has really opened herself up regarding everything that’s happened to her recently and she really didn’t need to, she didn’t owe us anything. I relate to this album more than any album I’ve ever listened to and I really don’t think there will ever be a day where I or anyone says “okay, I’m bored of this album now.”
My most favourite songs from the album are:
- Fake Smile
- In My Head
- 7 Rings
- Thank U, Next
- Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored
(So pretty much the entire album)
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe
I discovered this book when having a nosey through all of the biggest books over the past couple of years that I’d not had the opportunity to read yet and ‘The Loneliest Girl in the Universe’ by Lauren James grabbed my attention immediately. A full review of this book will be up on my blog soon.
This book is definitely worth a read, mainly because the plot twist is just INSANE, but also because I really loved reading about Romy’s journey through space, her past, her parents, everything. You’ll be gripped from start to finish and I can guarantee that I’ll be returning to more of Lauren’s books in the future because she is an incredible writer, with an even more incredible imagination!
Favourite Makeup Product
Imogenation X Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette
I have actually written up a full review on this if you haven’t seen it yet, but there’s no harm in talking about it some more over on this post too!
The reason why I love this palette so much is because there are so many diverse colour choices – some bold, some neutral. I also find myself reaching for ‘Forever Friend’, a metallic pink and ‘Okkkkk’, a brown oak matte. The pigmentation on these shades is unreal and they’re so easy to blend.
Plus, it is so affordable at just £10.00!
