*Thank you to Canelo, Rachel Lynch and Netgalley for granting me my wish and for allowing me to be a part of this book tour.*
I’d just like to clarify that I have read this series from book one, however, this is just the first of five that will be getting a review on my blog!
I was super excited when I got an email from Canelo about holding a blog tour for book five and jumped at the chance to finally get involved with promoting a book series that I hold so close to my heart.
Kelly has dealt with so many horrific crimes and this story most definitely held the hardest one. Not only did the case involve more people than usual and have crimes set in different locations, Kelly now had to work alongside a previous lover, DCI Matt Carter. Throughout this series, I have enjoyed every second of watching Kelly begin her new life in The Lake District and the people she has surrounded herself with. Her family is definitely far from perfect, as secrets have previously been revealed, but who’s family is? This all being said, it was incredibly exciting to finally travel to London with Kelly and meet all of the people she had previously worked with before her move. It was a chance to look in to her past a little more and have a better understanding of why she left.
Bold Lies had to include one of the most tense cases that Kelly has been involved with so far and the lengths that these criminals went to cover up their illegal actions was crazy. It was most certainly the most complex and I have to admit, due to my lack of knowledge in this, I struggled to understand in a full extent what was going on regarding the background as to why these criminals were committing these crimes, however, the case does end up being fully explained.
Kelly continues to be the most admirable book character I’ve read about and inspires me with each book I read about her. She continuously shows outstanding skills and instincts towards the cases given to her and is the perfect example of you can be anybody you want to be, if you just put your mind to it.
Rachel Lynch has once again knocked it out the park and I can’t wait to see what is up her sleeve for book six. She never shies away from difficult situations and although some crimes can be extremely dark, you’ll find yourself gripped from start to finish. I can’t tell you all how much of a wonderful series this is and if you like a bit of Crime Fiction – this is the absolute perfect read!
Links to Book:
Rachel Lynch grew up in Cumbria and the lakes and fells are never far away from her. London pulled her away to teach History and marry an Army Officer, whom she followed around the globe for thirteen years. A change of career after children led to personal training and sports therapy, but writing was always the overwhelming force driving the future. The human capacity for compassion as well as its descent into the brutal and murky world of crime are fundamental to her work.
