BOOK REVIEW: LOVE, CREEKWOOD BY BECKY ALBERTELLI

It’s been more than a year since Simon and Blue turned their anonymous online flirtation into an IRL relationship, and just a few months since Abby and Leah’s unforgettable night at senior prom.

Now the Creekwood High crew are first years at different colleges, navigating friendship and romance the way their story began–on email.

♡♡♡

I have absolutely adored the Simon-verse ever since I watched Love, Simon at the cinemas during April, 2018 and continued my love for these gorgeous characters on holiday during September, 2018, where I read Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda and Leah on the Offbeat in two days. Then, we got the super exciting news of the TV series Love, Victor coming out and I completely fell head over heels in love with that too. Can I have a Felix, please? Anyhow, during the Love, Victor series, we was blessed with an episode, in which we got to see how our favourite couple was doing and it was the best thing to ever come out of 2020! I can’t get enough of these characters, so to hear Becky had released a novella catching us up with the OG characters – I was over the moon!

Love, Creekwood is a novella, in which we revisit and reunite with the wonderful characters; Simon, Leah, Abby, Nick and Bram, along with some new characters as well. The whole story is told within emails, as they have have all now graduated high school, moving on to living the Freshman College life, which unfortunately, isn’t working so great for Simon. Extremely smitten and in love with Bram (who wouldn’t be?), Simon can’t seem to settle in to his College and work a long distance relationship. I really loved those emails where Simon and Bram reminisced those little moments, in which they were together, it was so adorable! I really wish we could have got a full book out of this, so I could soak those moments up properly and not through email, but this is better than nothing at all!

Leah and Abby – aah they are just the cutest! Our two lovebirds had signed up for the same College and was now living together, however, that didn’t stop them from writing each other the most adorable of love emails every second they found themselves apart! Their relationship is the most fresh of them all and it made my heart swoon so much when Abby was hinting at Leah to open up and use that four letter L word she hated, I couldn’t stop smiling! We know Leah’s a stubborn one!

I can’t even express how happy I felt throughout this story, despite how small it was, it was just the most cutesy little bubble to be wrapped up in for the first day of the New Year and it’s safe to say I have fallen more in love with these characters than I thought possible. Please give us more, Becky! That ending needs to be explained, I need my closure!

Can we also please just quickly talk about how all of the proceeds made from Love, Creekwood go straight to the LGBTQ+ charity of Becky’s choice!

Arrgh Shelby, I’m currently having a cosy Sunday catching up with all your recommendations and this one sounds amazing. I loved ‘Love Simon’ and am obsessed with ‘Love Victor’ but I haven’t read any of the books. I must read them now!! 🙂 Lucy xx
