I’ve been supporting Katie’s books since her debut, so it was extremely exciting when I heard about the third and even more excited when I got accepted to read it through Netgalley!

Like all of Katie’s stories, I was hooked from start to finish and fell in love immediately with Esme – Katie’s female lead. She was so quirky and completely herself through and through. You’d never be able to compare her to anybody else, that’s for sure and she deserved all the happiness in the world, after a dreadful day that turned her life upside down. I was giggling a lot during the very disastrous moments Esme faced, as she embarked a new journey of documenting her cooking and sharing her Grandma’s recipes with the world.

Katie described the world of social media perfectly throughout this story, right down to how hard it is to become successful through a blog and YouTube channel. However, that didn’t bring Esme down in any way, if anything, it lifted her up to continue posting on her platforms and consistently gain followers. She really inspired me throughout and definitely showed me that it isn’t about the views or the quality, it’s about having fun with what you post and if that is shown through the screen, then everyone will soon fall in love.

Leo, Esme’s ex-boyfriend, was an awful character and got everything he deserved – although there could never really be a limit. He didn’t know what he wanted and manipulated Esme more than enough times, however, with the help of her amazing friendship group, she fought all of her urges to run back to him and found her place in Mistletoe Cottage. The cottage was definitely not a picture perfect image to start off with, but with the right touches from Esme, she made it in to the most gorgeous, cosy and idyllic setting that could make anybody jealous. Where’s my cottage!? I fully jumped inside this book with Esme, drooling over the delicious foods she cooked, feeling all cosy and fuzzy inside when her and her friends were divulging in chocolate cake and wine all evening around a fire – December well spent, is what I’d say! Leo deciding to leave Esme was the best thing that could have ever happened to her.

Joe was an absolutely gorgeous character to follow, and that might just have a little to do with the fact Katie has based this man on Sebastian Stan – swoon! He had been through so much trauma and Esme just so happened to be the light that he needed in his life, if only he could just let her in. My only complaint would be, I needed more of these two together!! I would absolutely love to read more about Esme and Joe’s journey to love and helping one another heal. Katie, can we have a sequel pretty, pretty, please?

Everybody is in for an absolute treat with this one. Katie always smashes it with her books and this one does not disappoint. My advice to everyone would be to book a whole day out to dedicate to this story, as you’re not going to want to put it down!
